VETS DISC GOLF CLUB

HISTORY / ABOUT US

The Vets Disc Golf Club (Vets DGC) is a nationwide organization dedicated to uniting veterans through the exhilarating sport of disc golf while promoting mental health awareness and support.

Founded in mid-2019 by Jordan Eubanks of Hampton Roads, VA, Vets DGC emerged in response to the alarming statistic that 22 veterans die by suicide every day in the United States. Eubanks, a U.S. Navy veteran and disc golf enthusiast, started the group to grow the sport within the veteran community, reduce isolation, and address mental health challenges. Since its inception, the club has expanded rapidly, fostering local chapters across the country and donating thousands of discs to veterans and military bases.

In mid-2020, Justin Cook launched the Vets Disc Golf Club of Central Ohio chapter (VDGC). As president, Cook quickly recognized the opportunity and need for adaptive disc golf, ensuring disabled veterans could participate and enjoy the sport on equal footing.
Reaching out to the Veterans Affairs (VA) for support, Cook connected with Patrick Gray, a VA Recreational Therapist and professional disc golfer. Together, they integrated disc golf into the VA’s recreational therapy programs, making it accessible to more veterans as a tool for physical and mental well-being.

Building on this momentum, VDGC partnered with Strive4You to host the Inaugural Adaptive Disc Golf & Sports Clinic on May 29-30, 2025, in Whitehall, Ohio. This groundbreaking event included the first officially sanctioned PDGA adaptive disc golf tournament, focusing on blind and low-vision players while incorporating adaptive rules for a range of disabilities.

Organized in collaboration with the Vets Disc Golf Club of Central Ohio, Strive4You, and local partners like the Whitehall Community Park YMCA, the clinic offered hands-on instruction, adaptive sports demonstrations, and community building for veterans and participants with disabilities.

Since this milestone event, the Vets Disc Golf Club of Central Ohio has continued partnering with organizations like the VA, Strive4You, Adaptive Sports Connection and others to teach and introduce adaptive/disc golf to both disabled and non-disabled veterans across multiple states in the U.S..
Through leagues, clinics, tournaments, and outreach, Vets DGC remains committed to creating inclusive spaces where veterans can find camaraderie, purpose, and healing on the course.

WHAT IS OUR MISSION?

The mission of the Vets Disc Golf Club of Central Ohio is to cultivate a safe, enjoyable, and inclusive disc golf environment specifically tailored for veterans in Central Ohio. Through our organized events, clinics, and community outreach initiatives, we foster camaraderie among participants, support the broader local disc golf community, and promote holistic well-being by advancing physical fitness, mental resilience, and emotional health for all involved.

Every Thursday we meet up and get a full 18 in! The course changes month to month, but its always local to the central Ohio area!

Our members are from all branches of the U.S. military. Additionally, we are lucky to be joined by our amazing civilian staff, players and supporters!

Winter Training

Over the past couple of years we have been lucky to use the Chapel North (Westerville) facilities for training during winter months. If this changes, we will update!

Casual & Competitive

There's no rivalry quite like the military rivalry. So in keeping with tradition we have Branch teams, plus a civilian team.
